Generating Clean Energy to WA
After 2 years of transportation, installation, modification and integration, the wait is finally over!
Five wind turbines at the Waslee Downs Eucalyptus farm have begun generating clean energy to power WA communities. This achievement marks a significant milestone in the farm’s transition towards renewable energy and represents a major step for MCWA towards reducing its onsite fuel consumption, and carbon emissions and promoting sustainable development.
MCWA wanted to recognise the contribution of local businesses to the development and transformation of Waslee Downs and did so by holding a community open day in September 2022. More than 150 neighbours were invited at farm to see the turbines up close, along with the eucalyptus crop under irrigation pivots and the world-class distillery. Every visitor was offered a free eucalyptus sample, and we enjoyed a bus tour of the farm & a traditional Australian BBQ lunch.
We were delighted to have the Western Australia Minister of Primary Industries and Regional Development, Hon. Alannah MacTiernan, officially “launch” the wind turbines.
Besides the economic benefits, MCWA also carefully considered the environment. MCWA has been actively working on grazing livestock for weed control, thus reducing the need for chemical intervention; returning mulch to the fields for moisture and soil management. MCWA is proud of our attention to environmental issues and will continue to strive to ensure we have a long-term, sustainable business.
